Weekly Update – 21 January 2010
This Sunday: Classic Worship: Glen Marshall is leading, Jean Bernard unpacks our last encounter with 1 Peter and Bill Watson will lead us in communion - 11.00am.
BBT Ghanaian Led Worship is at 1.30pm.
Street for Prayer is: Stanbrook Street.
LBC Calendar: The LBC Diary/Calendar is now on-line on LBC’s website. Visit www.levenshulme.org and click on Calendar. The Calendar defaults as an agenda list but you can change your viewing of it to a monthly planner or week view if you prefer. This is a useful addition so that all can see what is going on in the week at LBC. It could also serve as a useful prayer/reflection guide.
Biscuits for Haiti: Matt Clements writes, “A big Junior Church Thank You from Miriam, Reuben, Theo, Jacob, Matt and Kate. We had lots of fun making the biscuits (and hope you enjoyed eating them.) But the tastiest bit is that you gave us nearly £20, which Matt’s now sent to the Compassion Haiti Response Appeal. We thank Father God for your wonderful generosity. Keep praying for everyone over there to Kenbe Fem – Stand Firm.”
Praying for Haiti: On Sunday we had a special reflective prayer time for the people of Haiti. Please continue to pray/reflect on the news that we see/hear.
People: Bill writes: “I spoke to my mom a few hours ago (Saturday) and she thanks you for your prayers which have been answered amazingly! As far as I understand things, the bottom line is that she’s NOT had the operation and hopes to be discharged in a few days!!
Let me try to explain (as far as I can).. The surgeon who was due to operate today disagreed with the other consultant & felt the operation wasn’t necessary: he sees the problem more as a treatable twisted bowel rather than a complete blockage – and felt the risk of surgery too high!! My mom actually refused the 1st offer of surgery (Thurs) but after a night of uncertainty and persuasion agreed to the 2nd date (today) I see it as a bit like Abram’s testing - being willing to offer Isaac and then at the last minute getting a reprieve or a way out: certainly my mom’s faith was greatly tested and she sees the result as a real answer to prayer. The practicalities for the future are still uncertain for her, but God has again moved in a a great and mysterious way!”
THANK YOU ALL AGAIN”.
Stephen Chantrell had a fall last weekend and is in Stepping Hill hospital (Ward D4) in plaster. Please continue to pray for him. Please continue to pray for Alice Lowe who hasn’t been feel well for most of December/January.
